Hi, I'm Gerald

I work at the intersection of music education, choral artistry, and cultural representation, with a focus on building meaningful and lasting contributions to the choral music landscape. With a Master of Music in Music Education and a background in both pedagogy and performance, my work spans multiple domains: teaching, arranging, performing and publishing.

choral educator

I work closely with primary and secondary schools across Singapore, as well as with community choirs of all ages. As a member of the faculty at the Voices of Singapore Children’s Choir, I focus on delivering inclusive, high-impact choral education that nurtures confidence, literacy, and a love of ensemble music, regardless of a singer’s background or experience.

composer & arranger

My arrangements have been performed internationally and are crafted to balance musical excellence with real-world usability. I write with empathy and clarity, building music that is expressive, accessible, and satisfying to sing.

Publisher & Advocate

I founded Muziksea, a platform dedicated to Southeast Asian choral composers, where I also serve as Chief Editor. Our goal is to enrich the global choral canon with culturally grounded, musically rigorous works that reflect the voices of our region.

Barbershop harmony

I started The Jolly Four, a Singaporean barbershop quartet dedicated to the craft of close harmony singing. Rooted in the barbershop tradition but joyfully unafraid to explore beyond it, our ensemble celebrates storytelling, community, and expressive blend one ringing chord at a time.

“Music isn’t just sound. It’s how we remember, resist, rejoice, and rebuild.
I believe in creating musical experiences that honour both excellence and humanity, where every voice feels seen, supported, and essential.”
